THE MOST COMMON QUESTIONS
01. Do you provide homework, or just help with schoolwork?
We can do both! We can help clarify school assignments or provide “fun-work” (short, engaging activities) to reinforce our lessons between sessions.
02. My child has a lot of energy. Do they need to sit still for a whole session?
We don’t expect 5 or 6-year-olds to sit still for an hour! Our sessions are broken into “learning bursts” with movement breaks, hands-on activities, and interactive games to keep them engaged and excited.
03. How do you support children with ADHD or learning differences?
Our tutors are trained in inclusive strategies. We use visual schedules, clear transitions, and positive reinforcement to create an environment where every child feels successful.
05. How much does tutoring cost?
We offer a variety of programs tailored to your child’s needs. Please reach out via email, and we’ll send over our most up-to-date pricing immediately.
05. Does my child need to bring any supplies to tutoring?
You can leave the heavy lifting to us! We are fully stocked with all the books, manipulatives, and learning tools your child will need for their session.
04. How do you assess my child's current reading level?
At our tutoring center, we assess each child’s reading level using a comprehensive Phonics Survey. This survey helps us identify the specific phonics skills the child has mastered and the areas where they need the most support. Based on the results, we determine an instructional focus tailored to their individual needs.
Instructional focus areas include:
- Short vowels in CVC words
- Blends with short vowels
- Consonant digraphs
- VCe (silent e) patterns
- Long vowel patterns
- R-controlled vowels
- Variant vowels and diphthongs
- Silent letters; hard and soft C and G
- Multisyllabic words
This personalized approach allows us to target instruction effectively, build confidence, and help each child make meaningful progress in reading.
